BOISE, Idaho — The blue flame of Bronco football burned bright beneath the March sun as Boise State’s 2025 Pro Day unfolded like a high-stakes battle in front of a crowd filled with NFL scouts, coaches, and even a general manager. The iconic blue turf transformed into a proving ground for dreams, and for one particular Bronco, it was more than just a workout, it was a declaration.

As expected, Ashton Jeanty, the Heisman runner-up and the most electrifying back in college football last season, drew the eyes of every camera and clipboard. But it was defensive lineman Ahmed Hassanein, the Egyptian warrior forged in the shadows, who turned heads and seized momentum with a performance that left jaws on the turf.

Watch: KTVB’s on-site coverage of Boise State’s 2025 Pro Day, featuring standout performances from Ashton Jeanty, Ahmed Hassanein, and more on The Blue.

Ashton Jeanty — The Known Quantity

Jeanty didn’t need to sprint. He didn’t need to lift. He’s already run the gauntlet—and conquered it.

With a 2024 campaign that saw him rush for a staggering 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns on 374 carries, leading the nation in all three categories, Jeanty stood tall on Pro Day by standing still. The 5-foot-8, 211-pound running back skipped the 40-yard dash, bench press, and several other drills, opting instead to let his historic tape and combine data do the heavy lifting.

“I’m a three-down back,” Jeanty said confidently. “I can run inside, outside, catch the ball, protect the quarterback, whatever you need.”

He did participate in positional work, catching passes from quarterback Maddux Madsen and flashing the same explosion and smooth hands that made him the most dynamic offensive force in college football. He looked every bit the part of a Day 1 pick, and the scouts from teams like the Raiders, Cowboys, Bears, and Steelers took note.

Projected to be the highest-drafted Bronco in program history, Jeanty’s name could be called as early as the top 10 when the draft begins April 24 in Green Bay. Yet, in a moment designed for stars, Jeanty let his humility shine through: “Wherever God sees me fit to go, that’s where I’ll go.”

Ahmed Hassanein — The Climber

While Jeanty is already a headline, Hassanein is writing his next chapter in real time, and what a chapter it was.

The 6-foot-4, 270-pound defensive end put on a bench press clinic, cranking out 34 reps of 225 pounds, a number that ranks among the most impressive seen at a Boise State Pro Day in the last 14 years. But it wasn’t just raw strength. It was the message: I’m here, and I belong.

“I’m the guy they want on their team,” Hassanein said. “I can compete at a high level. I’m passionate about what I do.”

This was no ordinary workout for him. A former three-star recruit who signed with Boise State in 2020, Hassanein earned his place in the rotation through relentless work and steady development. After impressing at the NFL Combine with maturity and charisma, despite grueling interview schedules and little sleep—he returned to Boise determined to showcase the physicality that tape and talk can’t always capture.

And he delivered.

Hassanein, who recently acknowledged our previous feature on social media, continues to gain traction in his post-collegiate climb. His story is resonating. If he hears his name called in April, he’ll become the first Egyptian player ever drafted into the NFL—a landmark achievement both for himself and for the sport globally.

“By God, I’ll get drafted,” he said. “Wherever He takes me, that’s where I’ll go.”

The Bigger Picture

Boise State’s Pro Day wasn’t just about two stars, it was a celebration of a program that continues to produce next-level talent.

Players like kicker Jonah Dalmas, who drilled a 63-yard field goal with ease, showed scouts that BSU’s roster runs deep. Wide receiver Cam Camper, lineman Ben Dooley, and safety Seyi Oladipo also left it all on the field. And while Jeanty and Hassanein may be the most likely draftees, the Pro Day spotlight helped elevate several lesser-known Broncos toward potential UDFA opportunities.

With representatives from over 20 NFL teams in attendance, the energy was palpable. The Broncos have long thrived on the underdog spirit—Avery Williams, Khalil Shakir, and now possibly Ahmed Hassanein are all part of that lineage. It’s a legacy of grit, belief, and stepping up when the lights shine brightest.

What’s Next

As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, Jeanty’s name is all but guaranteed to be called early, potentially setting a new benchmark for Boise State greatness at the pro level. Meanwhile, Hassanein continues to rise, fueled by faith, drive, and one of the most impressive performances of the Pro Day circuit.

Whether it's Day 1 or the final round, whether drafted or picked up as a free agent, these Broncos are poised to fly.

And in Boise, we’ll be watching.

Because when one of our own takes the leap from The Blue to the League... it’s more than football. Its the next episode in the saga of belief, brotherhood, and becoming legend.

Editor’s Note (March 28, 2025): This article previously stated that Ahmed Hassanein was a former walk-on. He was, in fact, a scholarship signee out of high school. The article has been updated to reflect this.
